Ding ding ding

On the subject of TV shows that remind me of older videos, I was reminded of this one of Sharks vs. Giant Octopus, while watching something on the National Geographic channel while at Howard's place.

Subtitles? We don't need no stinkin' subtitles!

This clip is quite old now, but I was reminded of it while watching Food Network Challenge, where they had five teppanyaki chefs compete in a contest in Hawaii. One of the contestants was a chef who was born in Vietnam, but had been living in the US for quite some time. Whenever he spoke on screen, there would be subtitles, despite the fact that he was speaking English, while no subtitles appeared for anyone else.

YOU are important and influential

Last week, Barack Obama announced that he is forming an exploratory committee for US presidency. See how important you are? Not only are you Time's Person of the Year for 2006, Senator Obama made his decision because he believes in you!

P.S. Don't forget to put this on your résumé.

Lost in those Golden Globes

Found this entry on WWTDD.com (What Would Tyler Durden Do?)

Now, you can't really blame a guy for sneaking a peek every now and then... after all, we're only human. Still, to do it while you're posing for a picture? Look at him. He seems like he's surprised to see Jessica's rack.

...in a box!

In case you missed it, or the forwards on the internet that took place afterwards, the song above is from last year's Saturday Night Live hosted by Justin Timberlake just before Christmas.

And below is a slightly more recent, response video. Enjoy.

P.S. You can get a shirt here or here.

Something I should ask about...

Do I Creep You Out
"Weird Al" Yankovic

I know that you don't know me very well
We've barely met, but I can surely tell
No one will ever love you like I do
I like to feel the warm spot on your chair
Sometimes I drool, and usually I stare
My precious one
I save that gum
That you threw in the garbage

You're the one I dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I creep you out?
Every time I shake your hand now
Wanna stick your fingers in my mouth
Do I creep you out?

Call you every night and hang up
Gonna carve you name in my leg!
In my leg! Oh-oh

Something I should ask about
Can I sniff the pit stains on your blouse?
And do I creep you, do I creep you out?

Oh the only question
Is do I creep you out?
Know exactly where you live now
Follow you from work right to your house
Do I creep you out?
Do I creep you out?

This song is set to the tune of American Idol winner Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud," which explains the way Weird Al looks in the video by JibJab. There was also a video on YouTube that synced Weird Al's version to a "live performance" by Taylor Hicks. The sync was perfect, and very funny when you listen to the lyrics and watch Taylor's performance. It's too bad I can't find it now... I guess it's been removed.

New Year's Eve Eve

My cousin Eric and his wife Wendy invited me to go out with them and some of their friends on Saturday night. (They were trying to set me up with a friend of theirs, who canceled at the last minute because she was sick..)

We had dinner first, then went bowling, and then got some drinks. Dustin, the kid in the picture above, saw my Lego Star Wars game on the PSP, and couldn't stop playing it (his parents got him a Nintendo DS and a different Star Wars game). Because Eric had been expressing interest in playing with the PSP, after some playing, Dustin walked over to let Eric play with it... only to get it back quickly when Eric began trying to draw something for a Pictionary game we had started playing across the tables...

P.S. Happy New Year, everyone!
